Things have been rolling right along here in the Mather household. We have been enjoying the warmer weather, though it has turned chilly again lately. I think it is supposed to warm back up soon!!
We went to the open house at the kid's school. We went to their rooms and saw a bunch of their work they had been working on.. They loved showing us around and were so proud of all their work. Abby had to have a mannequin made of herself for the open house, so Josh and Abby worked on that. I thought Josh did a great job! It is now in the girl's room and I have been startled on numerous occasions thinking there is someone there.

As some of you know, every week we have Friday surprise and do something with the kids- like make cookies, go out to eat, let them spend a dollar at the dollar store, feed the ducks at one of the local lakes, just basically whatever we can come up with- this week we took them to the Galleria (a local mall) and let them get a cookie from the cookie store. Anway, Friday before last, we took the kids to Chattanooga for their surprise and we stayed at the Chattanooga Choo Choo in one of the train cars. The kids loved it and had a blast! They also enjoyed swimming in the indoor pool Saturday morning.

We then rode the shuttle bus to The Tennessee Aqarium. I think their favorite part was the huge ocean aquarium with the sharks and tons of other fish and stingrays. It was really neat how it was so big, they would swim by the window and then disappear into another area and then reappear again later- almost like you would picture the ocean. Abby liked the puffer fish- we actually got to see it as it was puffed up and then as it went down. They also had a butterfly house and an area where you could touch some stingrays and some type of sharks which the kids thought was pretty neat.

DSCN0278 Here is a rather bizarre picture with the lighting, but they are describing how big the shark was that just swam by.
After we left there, we went and saw The Lost Sea which is in a big cave (the one that Josh and Joshua camped out in). Sarah had just started a fever that day and Joshua walked around with his hand over his ear because it was hurting, but we still had a good time even though they were starting to really feel bad. Joshua ended up having a sinus and ear infection and Sarah had a high fever virus for several days and eventually had double ear infections from that. Thankfully it had just started though and it didn't totally ruin the trip.

Last Sunday afternoon, Joshua's choir went to a local nursing home and sang to the residents. They all made valentine's and gave them to the residents. I am not sure how much he enjoyed it- I think he was scared, but he overheard them saying, "look at all the beautiful children" and I think that made an impression on him about how excited they were to have them there.

Saturday, we went to Sarah's first soccer practice. At first, they would ask her to do something and she would shake her head no, but after watching the other kids do it, she would eventually do it. I think she had to warm up to everything first and see how it was done. She has been very excited about it and had asked to play, but I think it overwhelmed her when she started to practice. It will be interesting to watch and see how she does this season.

After that was over, my mom and I went to Katy King and Mark Hersey's wedding. It was beautiful and we really enjoyed it! It was wonderful visiting with some friends that we hadn't seen in a while. While we were at the wedding, Josh helped Joshua start working on his pinewood derby car that he is making. He has really worked diligently on it, and has really been sanding it down. He has done a great job on it!

Tonight, we went to my parents house and visited with Alex and Suzanne Sarran and their adorable boys, Matthew and Timothy. We weren't able to visit long because we had to go to church and then after church we visited for a short time but then had to head home so the kids could head to bed and Josh could head to work. I wish we could see them more often!
