Last week the kid's school had an enrichment festival- this year is was about building. Each class went for an hour during the week and they got to participate in 6 different activities related to building. I went on Monday from 11:00 to 1:45 to help out since Joshua and Sarah's classes were coming through during that time. It was really neat and the kids loved it.

One of the games they played - they each had a partner and one would tell the other where to place the blocks- when they were done, they would lift the board up and see if they had done it the same. A bunch of the parents also had rolled 10,000 dowels out of newspaper for this week. Each class would divide into 4 or 5 groups and each group would get 70 dowels. They would then build a design out of it. I think Sarah's group made a type of skyscraper.

Here they are attempting to carry it back to their classroom.
Joshua's class came right after Sarah's class. It was amazing the difference between kindergarteners and 2nd graders. Of course I knew the difference but I don't really think about it until they come back to back doing the same activities.

Joshua's group won the most innovative award. It was funny, when the lady told them, they were all saying, "what's innovative mean?"
