Mercedes Kid's Marathon
On February 9th, the kids ran in the Mercedes Kid's Marathon. Their school encourages participation in it and they ran 25 miles at school over a period of time. They ran their last mile on the Saturday before the Mercedes Marthon is run on Sunday. I think over 3,000 kids ran. It was an amazing sight! The kids ran by grade level-every 15 minutes a new grade would take off. It was for kindergarteners thru 6th graders. They kids had a fun time and Sarah was really excited to get a medal like Joshua and Abby have from past years.

Joshua started our running really fast but by the time he got to the end he was dragging. He really enjoyed it, though he said next year, he wouldn't run so fast. The second graders and up ran by themselves, but Josh ran along the sidewalk some of the way with Joshua and picked him up at the end while I got Abby started. Joshua's teacher was handing out the medals and he was excited to see her!

Here are the first graders getting ready to go. Josh brought Joshua to me and then ran off to find Abby while she was running. He ran part of the way with her and then came back to run with Sarah. I got Sarah ready to start and left her with the dad of one of her classmates while Joshua and I went to pick Abby up. Sarah loved it and kept saying, "this is so much fun" while she was running along.

I think over 30 of the teachers, principal, assistant principal, aids etc... from the kid's school showed up to suppor the kids running. I thought that was so sweet of them to do that for the kids. Some of them even ran with the kids. Here are some of them. Joshua's teacher is on the back right in the yellow.

This has become a very fun tradition for us and the kids really enjoyed it. After we were done, we went out to eat at Zoe's. Byran and Angie e-mailed us a coupon that if you bought a drink you got the meal free. So we all ate out for 6 dollars!
