After lunch today (Friday), we went to the local Botanical Gardens and walked around. We had fun seeing all the different flowers- just enjoyed walking around and being together- though it was VERY hot!!

After we left there, we went across the street to the zoo and let the kids cool off in the water. They had fun playing and cooling off.

After the kids cooled off some, we walked by a few animals before we headed home.

We also walked through the Butterfly house and the kids sat SO still trying to get a butterfly to land on them.

One never landed on them, but one of the ladies who worked there came and put some of the new ones that had just hatched out on them. They were excited to hold them!

On Tuesday, Sarah went to Super Summer at our church. I have been trying to use VBS and Super Summer to prepare her, in a small way, for school. She has never really been away from me (or someone she knows well) for more than an hour or so. We never sent her to preschool and she hasn't even used the nursery at church that much, because of her asthma. She seems to have enjoyed Super Summer so far. Tuesday, they had a clown come and she painted Sarah's face. Sarah said she was a star clown.

Today, the kids and I went to the Hoover Library and saw the Imagination Movers. We have been the past two years and were excited to go again. The kids, and I will admit I did too, really enjoyed them!

Joshua has been trying to ride his bike again, this time with training wheels, and he seems to be getting it. This is the second day we have really worked with him on it and he loved it. It was so fun to see him riding, rather fast for him, down the road and hearing him saying, "WHEEEEEEE, YEE-HA!!" I loved watching him have fun and to finally be figuring it out. One of the little guys here in the apartments, (who is going in first grade) started making fun of Joshua for still using training wheels since he is going into the second grade etc..... Joshua just told him, "people learn to ride bikes at their own pace." I was proud of him for his nice response. Abby tried to ride it some too. Hopefully by the end of the summer, he, and maybe she, will have bike riding down!

Josh didn't have school today so after he got up this afternoon, he took the kids swimming and they LOVED it. It has been a hot day today!! Here is a picture of Josh and Joshua from the other day, Josh was writing a paper and Joshua and the girls were playing dress up. Here is Joshua's outfit- not sure what he was trying to be- maybe some type of army man?!!

This week, so far

On Monday, Sarah was helping me clean some and she held the snakes for me while I cleaned out their cage. She had one and then went to get the other one out and when I looked she wasn't holding the bigger one. I asked her where she put it and she pointed to the door knob.

Monday night, Abby went to Abbie Perry's birthday party at Build A Bear. She had a great time and loves her bear Fuzzy! I can't believe that the girls are now 6! Time goes by so fast- I remember when Abbie's mom and I were pregnant together keeping up with one year old little boys!

Today, I took the kids to the Hoover Library and they had a guy, Safari Greg, come. He did magic tricks, taught the kids some about animals and also brought two snakes, a porcupine and an alligator. The porcupine is only around 15 weeks, so he fed it a bottle. It was REALLY cute. The kids really enjoyed the show. Here is a picture of Joshua and Abby holding a snake with him. Sarah didn't want to get in the picture- until we were leaving, of course.

Tonight the kids and I went to my parent's house and we all got together to celebrate Bryan's birthday. Unfortunately Josh wasn't able to come and we missed him. I can't believe my brother is 30 years old!! It is fun to see him with his wife and baby boy now. Charlie is just the cutest little guy ever! He is smiling so much and is starting to notice his hands and is just adorable. Can you tell I love my nephew?!! Unfortuntaly I didn't get any pictures of him..... I did get a picture of my two wonderful brothers and my sweet sister and her wonderful husband Kris though!

Happy Birthday Bryan! I love you so much and am so thankful to have you for my brother! You are a great example to me and I look up to you and admire you so much! Thanks for always being there when we need you. And thanks for bringing Angie and Charlie into the family!! I love watching you with Charlie- you are such a loving, kind father and so good with him. I hope you had a special day! I love you!

Our Tuesday

Today I went to a Bible Study at our church and it was really good. Joshua and Abby played in the gym and I tried to get Sarah to go in the nursery, but she didn't want to. She has never liked the nursery- even when she was a baby they would have to hold her constantly because she was upset. I told her she would have to sit quietly if she went with me and she did a great job. I figured no need to expose her to whatever cold or .....? that the other children had. We don't need her to get sick again. She enjoyed sitting in my mom's lap for part of the lesson. Anyway, it was about commitment and I really enjoyed hearing it. I thought one of the quotes said during it was good- "No commitment (or sacrifice) is too great for those you love."
The kids played most of the afternoon together very well. After they cleaned up all their toys, the girls wanted to go outside and play in the rain with their umbrellas and rain boots. I don't know what came over me, but I said yes. I AM trying to relax a little. They had a lot of fun and when they came in they were rather muddy, but at least it entertained them for a while!

While we were eating supper, I was washing some clothes. It got to the point where it is spinning the water out and the washer was knocking the door and the kids could hear (and see) it. They got all excited and wanted to go put their backs on it so they could feel the vibrations of it and make funny noises with their mouths. I decided to let them interrupt supper this once to do it. Here they are by the washer.

Your children are so cute -- I love that last shot of the three of them -- they are precious... do they look like you, your sister, and brother did?

Great rain day shots. the umbrellas are pretty, and the girls prettier even ;) they are enjoying themselves.
