Cub Scouts

Today Josh and Joshua went with the Cub Scouts to tour NBC13. Joshua really enjoyed it and they even got to be on tv for about 5 seconds. I didn't turn the news on, so I missed it, but hopefully we will find a copy somewhere. Josh called the station and they will sell him a VHS copy of it for $50 and a DVD for $75! I guess we will forgo seeing it unless we find someone who recorded it! Here are a few pictures from their time.

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday, I went with Abby's kindergarten class to the Hargis Retreat Center. We had a great time! I dropped Sarah off at Mom and Dad's and then rode the bus with several kindergarten classes. We rode on a hayride, listened to a story in an Indian Teepee, went to a petting zoo, saw how pumpkins grow, cooked out hotdogs and marshmallows over a bonfire and picked out a pumpkin to take home! It was pretty chilly and very windy but not too bad at all. Most of the kids didn't enjoy cooking the hotdogs and marshmallows for very long. The smoke kept burning their eyes and the fire was too hot, so we got them to cook them long enough to pose for pictures and then we finished cooking them! Here are some pictures of our time!

Today we went to church and Josh taught his first grade sunday school class. He absolutely LOVES teaching and Joshua is in his class. I went to my sunday school class where Olan Stubbs has been leading the lessons. I am sad this is his last week of teaching as it has been a great time of study on prayer.

This evening we were back at church and I taught the theory class for the 5 year old choirs. I probaby have around 35 or so children that I work with. I take half of each choir group at a time and do the theory lesson with them for 10-15 minutes in another room and then get the other group and do the same. It is a lot of fun! I have really enjoyed getting to know the kids and it is fun working with Abby's group!

    Fun Times!!
Today we were up bright and early,

since Joshua had an 8:30 soccer game. They played well and tied the game. Next week is their last game for the fall season and they have really improved over the last 7 or 8 weeks. Joshua really loves it!

We left from the game and went to Andy Perry's 7th birthday party. I can't believe how time has flown. Seems like yesterday Joshua and Andy were "playing" together as 1 year olds! The kids all had so much fun playing at the park and eating donuts and pigs in a blanket! Happy Birthday Andy!!

Dad, Mom and Stephen came and picked Joshua up and took him to watch Stephen's soccer game. They lost their game, but Joshua really enjoyed being with Grandaddy, Grandmamma and Uncle Stephen!
A neighbor of ours has arthritis and is moving from his upstairs apartment to a downstairs one and asked if I would clean his bathrooms for him when he moved out. I agreed to do it and I have to tell you, they really needed a good cleaning. It took me close to 3 hours to clean the two bathrooms and wipe off the stove and mop the kitchen floor. I am going to clean his bathrooms in the new apartment every two weeks so hopefully they will stay MUCH cleaner. When I got home, I lay down for a "minute" and promptly fell asleep. I slept for 1 and a half hour and when I woke up, Josh had gone to the store and bought some pizza's and cooked them for our supper. He is SO sweet to me! We watched part of the Alabama/Tennessee game and AL lost - Auburn won though! WAR EAGLE!!!

Every Friday, we have what we call a "Friday surprise" for the kids. It ranges from taking them out for supper, a movie, giving them a dollar to spend at Dollar General, feeding the ducks, just whatever we can come up with! This week, I made up some cookie dough and when they got home from school and gymnastics we let them make cookies and then ice them. They had a whole lot of fun and made quite the mess too!

    Fun day
I was supposed to go to my Bible Study this morning, but Sarah's cold and asthma was bothering her and she would not have been able to go to the nursery, so I opted to stay home. This is what happened the last couple years, so I am thinking this is just not the right time in my life to go to Bible study's. I will keep trying, but this is the third week I have missed, so we will see what happens. I will just contine to work on it myself and I am sure I will learn a lot that way also. We are studying the book of Colossians now.
Instead of studying, I went and cleaned Mrs. Churchill's house for her. It didn't take all that long, and then Sarah and I came home and we played some. It was a cloudy, rainy day today, so a nice day to be home.
Josh went to class and the kids and I went to Dad and Mom's house for supper. Mom bought some barbeque on her way home from working at Stephen's school in Clanton. It was good and SO much fun to see Bryan and Angie. We had a fun conversation, but more on that later! The kids showed off their gymnastics feats and Joshua read a page in a book to Mom and Angie. He then proceeded to read almost the rest of the book quietly to himself. That is the first time that he has just picked up a book and read it all himself. He did ask us some words, but I was really pleased. He didn't get to finish it so he brought it home so that he can see how it ends up!
Josh met us at our apartment and we walked to the kids school (Vestavia Elementary West) for the fall Carnival they had. It was crowded but fun and the kids really enjoyed themselves.
Oh well, I have been trying to figure out how to get the pictures off our camera and onto our computer and can't figure it out. I was going to add a couple with this entry, but I will have to do it later after Josh gets home to show me how to do it.

YAY!!! Love it that you have xanga!!! Are y'all attending Briarwood Church? Glenda is teaching Tiffany Lee violin. Tiffany is very good at it. Do any of your children have an interest in music? So does Stephen go to the school that is at Clanton Presbyterian? It seems like the Flanders were telling us about that school.

Can't wait to see pics. I haven't had many pics up lately... Bonnie and Glen do not appreciate me taking random pics of them and then posting them on my xanga..... and I also know that I will be paid back HA! i love to take them of our little cousins though ~ and they love it too
    Have a nice day Elizabeth:)

    • My day

Well, I decided since I have a blog, I should write something on it.
Today, I went to Joshua's classroom and helped out with some changes that needed to be made on the computers there. It was fun being in the class with him and he was excited to see me! He is such a sweet boy. I overheard him telling one of his friends, "that's MY mom." It made me wonder how long it would be 'til he was embarrassed to say that. Boy, that would be sad if he ever was. I enjoyed hearing Joshua's teacher teaching them and interacting with them today. She seems to be very good with them and he really loves her. She is expecting a baby in April, so I guess he will be getting a new teacher for the last 6 weeks of school. He doesn't seem to upset about it though. Anway, he was all excited because he was line leader today. He was in the lunchroom when I was done and I went to say bye. The line leader always helps clean up their mess from lunch and he gets to pick one person to help him. He was holding the dustpan and his friend was sweeping up the trash.
Mom and Stephen entertained Sarah while I was helping in Joshua's classroom. Or she may have entertained them, I am not sure. She is so much fun and VERY busy! Constantly talking, moving etc.... Never a dull moment with Sarah around.
I checked Abby out of school early to go to the eye doctor and she was sad to leave. I am so thankful she likes it so much. Her teacher, Mrs. Pharo, is SO wonderful and is just the perfect teacher for Abby. She said that when they called down to tell her I was there to pick her up, Mrs. Pharo called her "abby dabba do." They seem to really enjoy each other.
Well, the eye doctor said that Abby needs glasses for her reading, writing , computer etc.... I guess any focused work. They had to dilate her eyes and she had to endure a LONG visit and naming lots of letters but she was brave and very patient. She really relaxed about the visit after I told her and then the nurse told her that they don't give shots at the office. I was very proud of her. She is excited about getting glasses. She picked out some that were disney princess ones and can't wait to get them!
My brother Stephen came over tonight while my parents were eating out. The kids were so excited to see him! He worked on his school work a good bit of the time, but he and Joshua did get a game of "Stortego" in.
Bryan and Angie are moving back to Alabama from California and just got in tonight!! I cannot wait to see them tomorrow! I know they must be tired after the LONG drive with the Penske truck.
Josh headed off to work about 10:00. He works during the night and then sleeps during the day. It took some getting used to, but it isn't all that bad now. We actually see him more and his schedule is a lot more flexible . It works better with his schooling and when he gets to nursing school in a couple semesters, it will really be helpful!
Hopefully I will keep updating regularly, but you never know with me. We will see.
      -----------------------------------------------
      Hey Elizabeth,
Wow, you have two in school... Where do they go?
I assume Stephen is driving That's great about Bryan and Angie... I know y'all are glad that they are closer.
      I miss you all.
