On Monday, another mom and I sat with Abby's class while their teacher went to a Christmas breakfast that the PTA has for the teachers from 7:30 to 8:30. It was fun being with them, though they are busy little guys! I read them 3 or 4 books and the other mom had a card for them to make for Miss Oliver and she also read them a book. I left there and went and cleaned a families house. It took me about 3 and a half hours and then I headed back to the school for Joshua's class Christmas party.

They played bingo, ate some yummy looking snacks and had a book swap. Each child brought a wrapped book- boys brought for boys and girls brought for girls. The took turns, with the girls first sitting in a circle and then the boys. When Mrs. Gaither would play the music, they would pass the books around until the music stopped. When it stopped, they would get to keep the book they were holding. Joshua happened to get a Captain Underpants book, which I wouldn't recommend. They are full of potty humor. He was rather sad, since he knows we are not too thrilled about them. He kept saying "My Daddy won't let me read this and they are actually bad books." We actually haven't told him he couldn't (and he has read one) but we have tried to get him to ask questions like, What would Jesus do/want etc... and to think about scripture. Like Phil. 4:8- "....whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whateve is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." I was very proud of him for choosing to not read/keep it and we are going to take it back and let him pick out another book.

Mrs. Gaither gave him a fun book and he said, "at least I got one good book!" Mrs. Gaither got a stocking that hangs on the wall, door etc... and it had money in it from the class. She got all the kids to add it up as she showed them what bill it was- there are some real math whiz's in that class!
