U.S. Space and Rocket Center

The kids had the day off of school for Vetern's Day today, so for our Friday surprise, we went with my friend Janna Perry and her kids to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. Josh even came with us and I was SO glad. I would have missed him but I know he was tired because he worked last night and really didn't get much sleep on the way down. We went to an IMAX film about Man on the Moon and really only Janna and the boys and I enjoyed that. We ended up taking the others out and Josh watched them as they played on the playground. When we walked in for the film, the room was filled with soldiers. I think they said there were 150 of them there. They were having a special day for them because of Verterns Day. When we sat down, Sarah said, "Why are all the astranouts here?"

I am really bad about the names of these things, but this was the simulator for the thing that the astronauts fell back to earth in and landed in the water when they first started going to space.

We went outside after the IMAX was over and they had a ride called the G-force Accelerator and Joshua and I did that. I wasn't really sure if he would want to, but he did and he loved it! Afterwards he was telling us how he couldn't move his head and could barely raise his arms. I think it was like 3 G's pushing on your body. The seats raise up as it gets faster, maybe to simulate the lack of gravity?, I am not really all that sure about it, but Joshua was proud of the fact that his seat was the last to go back down as it was slowing down.
