Fun at the Zoo

Yesterday, Abby's class went to the Birmingham Zoo. I was able to go along as a chaperone and it was a lot of fun! We left about 8:45 and got back around 1:15. I was "in charge" of keeping up with Abby and three of her friends. They had a program for the kids about some animals found in AL. They learned about a snake, a skunk, a bird of some sort , and an alligator. At the end of the program, they could touch the alligator. It took some coaxing, but Abby eventually touched it. Abby's teacher has done a GREAT job of teaching the kids to listen, sit still, manners etc.... They do a wonderful job and make it fun to go with them.

We fed the Lorikeets. Well, one child and I fed them. Abby went in and then when the bird landed on her, she dropped her cup and went inside an area with screen around it until we were ready to go. One of the boys was terrified and another little friend warmed up at least enough to hold the cup of nectar, though she didn't want the bird sitting on her to eat it, so it sat on my hand and ate.

I am thankful that I have been able to be involved as much as I have in the kid's school. We have been very pleased with it so far!
